Man serving time for fighting deputies at fire scene asks for shorter sentence
A man currently serving time for fighting Clermont County deputies at the scene of a mobile home fire is asking for a shorter sentence.
Christopher Longnecker appeared in court on Tuesday, with his attorney asking for a work credit to be applied to his time served. That would allow him to get out of jail earlier.
It stems from an incident in 2023, when investigators said Longnecker struggled with deputies as he tried to get out of a mobile home on fire in Franklin Township.
Longnecker is currently serving an eight-month sentence. His attorneys requested he be credited with almost three and a half months of time served.
Longnecker was initially charged with assault on a police officer, misconduct at an emergency and resisting arrest.
The judge overseeing the case said he will issue a written decision on the motion for time served in the coming days.
