Musicians are hoping to help people heal after trauma through music this weekend. The "I Hear Music in the Air" concert this weekend is offering a unique experience for anyone looking to celebrate not only gospel music legends but get some help.
The concert is at 6 p.m. Saturday at Corinthian Baptist Church and will feature plenty of gospel-style music. A series of workshops before the concert are planned to help connect people with music to encourage healing, especially following traumatic events.
Dr. Camish Chambers says music is like the companion some didn't know they needed.
"There's so many ways that music can be that true daily companion if we engage with it on a deeper level. And that's what the workshop is designed to do 바카라 게임 웹사이트 to break that all down and give tips and tools on how to live a better and more healthy life," explained Chambers, who helped plan the event.
The recent rise in gun violence and school shootings is on the minds of many. Addressing that pain goes beyond physical wounds. Organizers want to help people find a way to move forward.
"It's time for us to name what's happening, it's time for us to talk about how it's impacting us. Let's not just talk about what it is and how it's impacting us, let's look at what this recovery look like with this. So that whole entire workshop series will take each participant step by step through what that all looks like," Chambers said.
Chambers also said there is no better time for the church to be able to stand up and be the source it has been for decades for individuals and communities of color. Organizers hope people can receive a powerful experience musically this weekend, one that will release them from the day-to-day drama and trauma in a place of worship.
"Being able to just have that space where you can just be and taking the time to unwind from all of the problems that exist around us. So when you're taking the time to unpack that, you're looking at, really it's more than just the physical. This is an emotional one that a lot of us are dealing with," she said.
Following the concert, on Sunday, is the "I Hear Music in the Air" Legends Ball with keynote speaker, creator of the concert series, Tracey Artis. You can purchase tickets for all events.
