THE ANNUAL MISSISSIPPI BLUES MARATHON WILL TAKE PLACE IN DOWNTOWN JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI'S CAPITAL CITY. WITH LIVE MUSIC BEFORE, AFTER, AND THROUGHOUT THE COURSE, THE MISSISSIPPI BLUES MARATHON PROVES TO BE ONE-OF-A- KIND. A Minnesota man plans to run his eighth Mississippi Blues Marathon and checks off a bucket list item.Tom Perry is an avid marathon runner, running over 630 marathons in his career.In 2019, his passion for running turned into a challenge and inspiration for others."I was diagnosed with stage four cancer in July 2019. I'm trying to run now a marathon in all 50 states with stage 4 cancer," said Perry. "I've already completed my rounds of going through the 50 states without cancer and now I'm trying to go through all 50 states with it. I just need Mississippi, Colorado, Louisiana and New Jersey, and I'll get Mississippi done today."This year's Mississippi Blues Marathon makes 139 marathons run with stage 4 cancer.Perry said it's important to set goals if you are interested in running. "Just one step at a time. Start slow and work your way up," said Perry.This was the 16th annual Mississippi Blues Marathon.
