Watch: 'The Marsh King's Daughter' unveils first-look trailer
The first trailer for Daisy Ridley's long-awaited film "The Marsh King's Daughter" has been revealed.
Set to be released on Oct. 6, "The Marsh King's Daughter" is an adaption of Karen Dionne's psychological thriller novel of the same name, which follows the story of a woman who must face her dark past after her father escapes from prison.
Helena's (Ridley) seemingly ordinary life is turned upside down after she learns that her father, the infamous "Marsh King" has escaped from prison.
With her father now missing, Helena is forced to confront her past and keep her family safe from the man who held her and her mother captive.
The tense trailer cuts between the present day and Helena's childhood as she prepares for a final confrontation with her father.
Ben Mendelsohn stars as Jacob Holbrook, aka the Marsh King, while Garrett Hedlund, Caren Pistorius, Joey Carson Gil Birmingham and Brooklynn Prince round out the cast.
Neil Burger directed the film, while The Revenant's Mark L. Smith adapted the novel for screen. Smith also served as a producer alongside Teddy Schwarzman (The Imitation Game) and Keith Redmon (The Revenant).
The film's due to distribution company STX undergoing a major reconstruction, and for a while, The Marsh King's Daughter was without a release date at all.
"The Marsh King's Daughter" premieres in cinemas on Oct. 6.
