A U.S. congressman from Cincinnati was among the first to help House Majority Whip Steve Scalise after he was shot at a Washington, D.C.-area baseball practice Wednesday morning.Rep. Brad Wenstrup (Ohio-District 2) provided medical care to Scalise after someone shot him in the hip.Scalise was conscious and alert when Wenstrup treated him, he told NBC. "He was very brave," he added.Wenstrup said that he believed Scalise was in surgery at around 10 a.m. "Fortunately, there was security detail there and Capitol Hill police or we all would have been vulnerable," he said. "I'm sure they saved who knows how many lives. A gunman opened fire on a GOP baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia Wednesday morning.
