NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell shares vision for city바카라 게임 웹사이트s 2026 NFL Draft, recalls Pittsburgh roots
As final preparations were being made on the big stage in Green Bay for the 2025 NFL Draft, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, sister station WTAE spoke one-on-one with the man announcing the first-round picks, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Goodell shared his excitement for, not only this year's draft in Green Bay, but also the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh.
"This is always an exciting time for me," Goodell said. "I think the buildup for Green Bay has been a lot of fun. You know, coming to a place that has such an important place in our history. Crazy football fans. And I think it's going to show up a little bit tomorrow night in Friday and Saturday."
While the stage is set for this year, Goodell said he has no doubt Pittsburgh is ready for 2026. With hundreds of thousands expected to fill the city, the exact setup for the Draft is still unknown.
"I think (Pittsburgh is) probably ready today," Goodell said. "I think we're still going through some of the logistics, and a lot of it's just because our focus is on Green Bay. But I think there are lots of great options about how we're going to put it on. And I think the biggest question is how many people are going to show up? And I think it's going to be a lot of people. So we've got to have a really good setup."
Goodell, who went to school at Washington & Jefferson College, less than hour outside Pittsburgh, reminisced on his good times in the city and his love for the area.
"I can tell you that I think Pittsburgh in the area has a really deep appreciation for my heart," Goodell said. "I enjoyed my time there. It was a great start for me. So I look back at that community. Loving my experience here."
While the NFL Commissioner is excited to see the Draft take place in Pittsburgh, he does say it may be difficult for some in the area to understand the magnitude of what is to come.
"They may find that it was bigger and better than they thought it was. And I hope that's the case," Goodell said.
His message about how to make sure Pittsburgh takes advantage of the three-day football event rings to what WTAE has heard time and time again while in Green Bay: Show off Pittsburgh as Pittsburgh.
"It's obviously going to reflect the Steelers like this is the Packers, but I think it's more than that. I think it's talking about the great things in that community, the stage it is on to really be able to say this is something special for Pittsburgh to host," Goodell said.
As for surprises? Goodell joked that "it wouldn't be a surprise" if there were surprises. He said special moments are sure to take place when the draft goes to Pittsburgh in 2026.
"We talk about those special moments when you have a draft or any kind of an event. You want those special moments that people are going to walk away and say, I'll always remember that."
