A group of Olympic athletes from the Greater Cincinnati area were honored Thursday after competing on the world stage.Track and field athlete Annette Echikunwoke, rowing athlete Nina Castagna and volleyball athlete Max Holt were among those in attendance as the city of Cincinnati celebrated Paris Olympians with ties to the area at Fountain Square. The athletes from the Paris Games were joined on stage by Olympians who competed in previous games from the area.Women's soccer star Rose Lavelle was not able to attend the ceremony because she was playing in a professional game in New Jersey.Lavelle's parents were in attendance, however, thanking the city for supporting their daughter with the USWNT.Thursday's event featured acrobatic dancers and a marching band before city leaders read a proclamation in honor of the Olympians.
